Windows To Go (WTG) Power Options – No Hibernation Available
Reference Number: AA-02727 Views: 7439 Last Updated: 2016-11-01 18:33

Microsoft’s Windows To Go (WTG) for Windows 10 no longer provides “Hibernation” as a power option. Users may be tempted to use “sleep” mode as a low power option for WTG.

However, the effect of using sleep mode could be as follows:

  • If the host system goes into sleep mode, the WTG device may hang when the host device awakes requiring a removal and reinsertion of the device.
  • Any work not saved prior to the host system going to sleep will be lost.

Ironkey recommends that you do not use “Sleep Mode” for the reasons listed above.

Note: You can disable Sleep Mode by editing the registry key:

If set to 0, then sleep will be disabled. If set to 1, sleep is enabled
