When attempting to download any file using the onboard Firefox browser, this message might appear: "c:\users\'user'\appdata\local\temp\'filename' cannot be saved, because the source file could not be read." This can occur when a problem exists with the Firefox profile being used.

To resolve this issue, do the following:

  1. Go to the "\IronKey-System-Files\FirefoxData\Profile\"? folder on the Secure Volume of your IronKey.
  2. Right-click the history.dat file, and click "Properties".
  3. If the Attribute is set to "Read-only", clear the checkbox.
  4. Click "OK".

If this does not resolve the issue, reinstall the original Firefox browser that came with your device:

  1. Backup your device, including your Identity Manager information and any Mozilla Firefox bookmarks.
  2. Go to the "\IronKey-System-Files\ Mozilla Firefox\" folder on the Secure Volume of your IronKey.

NOTE: If you don't see it, you must set your computer to display hidden files and folders.

Rename the "Mozilla Firefox" folder to "Mozilla Firefox-old" (or similar).

  1. Locate the "FirefoxData" folder on your IronKey, and rename it to "FirefoxData-old".
  2. Open the IronKey Control Panel, and click the "Mozilla Firefox" icon.
  3. The version of Firefox that shipped with your IronKey is reinstalled.
  4. Move your Firefox bookmarks from "\FirefoxData-old\Profile\bookmarks.html" into the newly created "\FirefoxData\Profile\" folder.

NOTE: After re-installing the original Firefox browser, you might need to disable and re-enable the Identity Manager Add-on using the IronKey Control Panel.
