How to recover device password

If you cannot remember the password to your drive, but did back it up to your Online Account, you can safely recover it.  To do so, follow these steps:

1. Insert your Personal device and launch the Unlocker.

2. The password prompt box will appear Click the Password Help button. (If Password Help button does not appear, Online Account password backup was not enabled on the device.)

3. Click Reset Password to confirm.

4. An email will be sent to the email address registered with your Online Account.  If you do not see this email, check your junk or spam mail folder.

5. Follow the further instructions in this email to reset your device password.

The email will look like this. 

To reset the password to your IronKey Personal device:

1) Click on the following link. Note that it will only work once and will expire if not used within 30 minutes:

2) On that webpage, answer your *Secret Question. 

3) Return to your device and click the “Continue” button.

4) Change your device password. 

* When you answer you security question, you will see this message.

You can now change your device password. Return to your device and click the "Continue" button. You will then be prompted to change your device password.

Note: There is no reset option. If you enter the incorrect password 10 times it will self destruct. There is no way for Technical Support to reset or restore the password for you.
